Torchlight Infinite just arrived on the scene, bringing a free-to-play, persistently online version of the Torchlight universe to a phone and PC near you. However, there is one glaring omission: Torchlight Infinite controller support. Those of you who have played it so far – particularly on phones with a nifty Razer Kishi device attached – will likely have found that you can’t use a controller to play, and that, quite frankly, is a darn shame.

We’re not going to waste your time by making you scroll down the page to get an answer to your question. Torchlight Infinite, in its current iteration, does not have any form of controller support. It’s as simple as that. We can confirm though that controller support is coming, and this conformation comes from the the developer itself on Steam. We’ll keep an eye on the situation and update this article as soon as it drops.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom, as you can still go in and add controller support for Torchlight Infinite – it’s just not officially supported. That’s exactly what we aim to help you with in this here guide.  We break down how to add controller support on a device-by-device basis, and letting you know what’s possible.

Torchlight Infinite Controller Support: Is It A Thing?

For the benefit of those that don’t like to read (we answered this in the introduction!), no, Torchlight Infinite doesn’t have official controller support in its current iteration.

Is Controller Support Coming?

That’s the good news: controller support is 100% confirmed. A player asked the question on Steam and the developer was quick to respond that it’s coming. You heard it here first (well, second).

Torchlight Infinite Controller Support Guide

Now that we’ve got all that out of the way, he’s how to set up controller support for Torchlight Infinite on each platform.

Controller setup easy mode. Steam has a baked in control mapper that lets you map any keyboard or mouse presses to your favourite controllers. Here’s how to use it:

  • Launch Steam
  • Go to ‘Settings’
  • Click on ‘Controller’

Here, you can configure either a generic setup that will work across all of your games, or a game-specific setup that will only initiate when you’re playing that game on Steam.

You will have to configure which controllers you want this to support, which currently includes Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch controllers, as well as a wide variety of third party options.

Lastly, if you’re using a Steam Deck, this process is an absolute breeze. Simply load up the game and you can either use a pre-created community controller option (note: there might not be any available just yet given the game’s recent launch), a Steam pre-built option that you can tweak, or you can just create your own on the fly.

We recommend the latter.

Mobile is a little more complex than PC, unless you’re lucky enough to own an Ayn Odin. That’s an Android gaming handheld that comes complete with a button mapper, for those not in the know.

Alternatively, the two best are Mantis Gamepad Pro and Octopus, both of which let you map screen taps to buttons on your controller.

However, they have been known to be pretty finicky, and straight up just don’t work some of the time. You’ve been warned.

Apple is a lot more strict than Microsoft or Google when it comes to doing anything that your iOS device doesn’t already do. Sadly, that same is true for controller mapping.

We’ve done some hardcore research, and basically found no reliable method of mapping a controller to touch on iOS. As a result, we’re officially labelling it as: not a thing.

Many of you might suggest jailbreaking your device. This allows you to do anything, but we’re not going to suggest that. Not only does it void your warranty, but it also makes your device more vulnerable.
